Tower Progress

Update December 21, 2010

The tower at this point has risen to full height! The little hills are being snowed and the 20 meter is ready for the kids to try their new holiday gear! The wood work on the 65 meter will be going on for about another two weeks and we are all looking forward to the first jump. The deck has been installed, the inrun boards have been placed, the roof will be going on the starters shed next week and the deflection boards will be all that's left. Our new judges stand is completed and electricity and communication wiring has been installed. For those of you that remember the old tower you will be quite impressed with the new design. Features include, first floor computation room, individual sections for the judges along with a separate jury room for all those tough decisions. Heated mats were also installed for the officials comfort along with internet capability! I know, heat and internet scary!!

Don't worry we could not do everything and there are not bathroom facilities. We need to leave some old school charm. Lastly, the landing hill improvements include deflection boards on both sides, new stairs on the upper portion and the knoll has been reconfigured so that the new take off is approximately eight feet off the ground not fifteen like the old structure. We hope all of you will enjoy the new facility whether you are a jumper or a spectator, and everyone at SWSA would like to thank all the volunteers and donors that have contributed to this historical project.
